I've mentioned this in a couple of other threads, but figured for simplicity's sake I should consolidate to a single spot: I've posted my first After-Action Report and Narrative for a 5150: New Beginnings campaign. Feel free to take a look here: 1) Introduction and Character Creation2) Narrative of First Encounter3) Play-by-Play of First EncounterI'm not even going to think about falling into the trap of promising a regular schedule--but I am riding a wave of early enthusiasm, so we'll see how it goes. Ed: if you see this... I think I've called out house rules, variations, and deviations clearly from core rules. If folks think it should be more explicit, I'll fix. Likewise, if there's a required or preferred credit for THW that should go up there, let me know and I'll post. Thanks!

I liked both the story & the step-by-step game explanation. Makes me wish I hadn't promised myself to play only fantasy games this year!

The story is really good. The intro/exit songs...would not be my choice. I'm a bit surprised that the robot seems more concerned about the impending police presence than Moxie is. That doesn't bode well for Moxie.

I liked both the story & the step-by-step game explanation. Makes me wish I hadn't promised myself to play only fantasy games this year! Thanks! The benefit to me of just starting out is that I have no enormous established back catalog of stories, genres, and characters to triage for my time—and my “lead pile” is only about 20 unpainted minis. The story is really good. Thank you! That’s fair. The best I can say is that in my addled brain, a goofy father-daughter song by a communist rapper reflected the state of Moxie’s mind (in some sense) before the story started, and an angry, anti-cop rant reflected the mind of someone whose brain was being battered by misfiring cybernetics at the end of the scene, raging and about to execute someone. Future episodes might include Brazilian garage rock or bluegrass or swing revival. Who can say? The question, perhaps: is the concept of bookending the short narrative bits with music (/video) selections (or the music selections themselves) “off” enough that it distracts or detracts from the story? Or just a “meh—that’s weird” sort of thing one could skip over? It does not bode well for Moxie. The stats and rolls that prompted the narrative element are that Moxie’s Savvy skill is an effective 1, after the Free Spirit penalty, where Peg the robot’s is an effective 5, after the Logical bonus. When I rolled for responding positively to the aftermath, Moxie failed the challenge and Peg succeeded. Narratively, I figured that Moxie wouldn’t be in a good place to respond positively anyway: she’s just exchanged gunfire for the first time in her life, which means she’s also dealing with the shock of having killed and injured someone, up close especially, for the first time in her life. On top of that, she’s not fully in control of her own mind and actions, since her glitching Enhancements are driving her mad. Thanks for taking the time to read my story! I am desperately scrambling to see how I can pull our heroes out of this without bending too many rules. After burning 2500 words explaining character creation, I’m not keen on having Moxie end up as a one-encounter Star!

I think the concept is solid. I read the story, then went back to listen to the music; so it's totally optional for the reader. Now I have to google Brazilian garage rock and see what's up with that. (It's how I ended up finding Lordi, Sabaton, Fever Ray and a bunch of other weirdness that I like.)
hmmm...I've got a few ideas, but I'm not sure how they would into Moxie's world.

So far, I've played through Scene 5 (end of the first month, in this case). Ohmygoodness, you have no idea. But, probably accurate.

Loving this. I really like both the narrative and the behind the scenes look. I love the way you invoke the senses in the narrative.

If I could draw that well, I'd stop using minis! Wow!

If I could draw that well, I'd stop using minis! Wow! As I claw my way deeper into middle age, I'm trying to finally learn how to take a compliment without going self-deprecating. Thank you! I've worked hard on the story and drawing, and I'm really glad people are enjoying them!
