I like your reasoning on metal madness & will promptly steal your house rule to use in my games. Your story is really making me regret choosing to concentrate on fantasy this year.

Well, I've been digging your African huts and incredible scenery. I hardly ever do fantasy or historical, so I've gotten to live vicariously through your site!

Sounds like fun. Thanks for the detail and the story.

Ooh, I'm loving this story, especially the little details thrown in like that "itch when it grows back", so true. I'm glad I'm not the only one who had to modify the vehicle only pursuit encounter to fit people on foot.

Going to be a book? Looks great. You're inspiring me to get back to Being Billy Pink.

Poor Moxie! Only one small quibble - liked the instrumental arrangement of Walking After Midnight, but the vocalist ain't even close to Patsy Cline's level on this one.

Well, I guess that's fair... but steel guitar didn't feel consistent with the moment and Ms. Cline's performances trends a bit more up-beat. Mournful won out. (She did get credit on the quote, though!)

I've got a preference question for anyone who may be paying attention to my story about Moxie Flatbush and the associated gameplay:
Our hero ended the last episode in a bad spot, and will need to spend some time in recovery, after which her world is going to be very different than she ever expected it to be.
I, as the player, GM, and author, know what's happening in that time, and have already rolled up the next two game-months' worth of encounter. But there's a bunch of "padding/backstory/narrative" to get there.
So, if you're following this story, would you prefer:
1) Keep going like I have been, posting a similarly-sized chunk of narrative regularly, whether or not there are many (or any) game rolls? (At the rate I've been going, there are probably a couple weeks' worth of "narrative without gameplay," going into recovery, the new reality of Moxie's situation, what Peg and other supporting characters have been up to, before getting to the first encounter and back to the rules transcripts.)
2) Give a quick rundown of what happens between Encounters, then get "back to normal" immediately with the first narrative/die-rolling-behind-the-scenes posts.
3) Dump everything described in Item 1, above, into a single "Month 1.5" post that you can read if you like, and then carry on with the gameplay and storytelling as "normal."
4) Something else entirely?
For what it's worth, none of the above would add or subtract from my "workload" much... just relate to how quickly and how often things get posted.
Either way, I appreciate the feedback and interest in the story and gameplay!

Find a happy medium that works for you. I played and wrote 9 encounters of Zhu Paand & Fizzrelda during NaNoWriMo one year, which then took me nearly another year to paint and photograph minis.
It's kind of a dilemma since encounters weave a story so quickly often using only pen & paper to play.

Do what's best for you. That's the key. In 25 years of writing and getting criticism and suggestions, I've found it's best to do what you think is best at the time...because it can change and that's okay.

I agree with Ed. I'm reading your stories (and enjoying them), but I'm also in feast/famine mode (I'll log in 3-4 days in a row, then nothing for a week). So do what fits your workload, time frame and enjoyment. Don't commit to something that makes it feel like work that you don't want to do.

Uploaded some background narrative while our heroes prepare for their next adventure. Chapter 1.5: Meanwhile...Series table of contents...and thanks for all the feedback on my "production schedule" (heh). Mostly, I wasn't sure about advertising non-mechanical narrative fluff... but since the consensus is, "Do what seems best to you," that's what I've done.

I really liked this installment. It fleshes out more of the dystopic Cyberpunk-style of your interpretation on the futuristic New Hope City. It also gives a good look at how an artificial life form would process what is happening around her. I also like that Kellen Millbank is a bit psychotic.
I'm like you in that these are the kind of things the game makes me think about as I try to link encounters together in a meaningful way. Makes me more invested in the characters and wanting to see how the story ends.
