I have the RRTK pdf rules. Trying to work out how the reaction tests work.
The rules say "The Reaction Test used is based on the Army Type of the army in question (i.e. A, B, or C)." The rules contents say there is are pages for 'melee reaction tests' and 'missile reaction tests' for each of Type A, B and C armies.
But ... (1) There are two sets of pages for tests, both labelled 'Melee Reaction Tests' and 'Missile Reaction Tests', not three. (2) Each of the two melee pages look identical, as do the two missile pages.
It is also unclear how the two sets of tests are used. The titles initially sound like they are related to the type of combat -- but on trying to work it all out, it looks like it is more related to the type of army.
I'm thinking that something changed during the development of the rules in terms of the description of the components and my hypothesis is:
-- MELEE REACTION TESTS are for Army Type A
-- MISSILE REACTION TESTS are for Army Type B - maybe up until they decide to shift to the charge, then change to MELEE?
-- Army Type C - actually look like the Type B dynamic could also apply.
The tactics under SOLO GAMING bring yet another dimension into the fray...
Is there any errata/clarification around use of the reaction tests?

Or is it simply only related to unit type?
-- Melee units use MELEE tests -- Missile and skirmish units use MISSILE tests?

Though the rules say there are reaction tests for each type of army, if you were to look at them closely, they are identical. The Melee tests are for melee units & the Missile tests are for missile & skirmish units.
There was a bit of same confusion when the rules first came out.
