I wrote 52,000 so far, but they are two sets of rules. 5150: Star Army - Total War and 5150: Star Navy - Total War

I wrote 52,000 so far, but they are two sets of rules. 5150: Star Army - Total War and 5150: Star Navy - Total War Great job! And that still counts. The only rule is hit 50k by the 30th. I’m at 48,500, with 10 scenes left to write.

Thanks. If I finish today it’ll be the quickest I’ve hit 50k. I’m also tempted to break my record for my longest NaNo 63k).

Arrgh! I'm at 43K as I start this morning. I have 4 days left to write seven thousand more words. Writing game related blog posts has been harder than I thought. On one side, I've played a dozen game encounters so far, mostly WHAT with a little 5150 New Beginnings and Colonial period games sprinkled in. The tabletop games were photographed & have been posted. The battle board games were played using proxy minis & won't get posted until I get the minis painted.
I don't mind housework piling up while I do NaNoWriMo, but to not paint any miniatures has to be some sort of crime against nature! Well enough rantings of the neighborhood crazy woman, got to get back to writing.

Pad your writing by describing how you paint your figures. Heck, spend a few thousand words just describing you figures themselves. You can also describe the scenes dramatically, and then what happened gameplay wise.
Almost there. You got this!

Last day of NaNo. How did everyone do?
I think I made up for last year. My horror novel, Guardian of Mercy, ended up at a little over 64k, making it my longest NaNo project and quickest one completed. I'm now rewarding myself by spending the rest of the year playing games. Then sometime next year, i'll see if I can turn the jumble of scenes into something publishable.

I got three rules sets done so hit 60+. Next year I will shoot for non-rule related writing!

I just finished with 50,300 words. I wrote 4 posts about colonial period gaming that have already been published on my blog. Two 5150 New Beginnings posts and 12 WHAT posts which will appear in the coming months. I played those encounters with proxy minis & battle boards, so I need to now paint the minis and finish a couple of terrain projects.
I have to admit, it was tough. It got so bad I counted the words on 3x5 cards where I wrote character & PEF stats! There were a couple of days where I really hated writing, switching from WHAT to New Beginnings helped me get through those days.

Oh, not that it is official or anything, but in one of the stories, the people of the Border Kingdom refer to their land as "Royaume Frontalier" which is one way in French of saying "Border Kingdom." The land was originally meant as a buffer between the goblins, orcs, dark elves & other Black Moon peoples to the North and East of Ekra & Treyine at the end of the great war. The soldiers stationed at these frontier posts eventually settled there raising families. The reason Donnerwald isn't a French or Ekra name is because it is named after the first nobleman who organized the provincial kingdom whose family name was of Treyine origin.
At least this is what was told to my sorceress at a tavern.

In November I started and made some pretty good progress on my Mobfellas rule set. Basically combining some ideas from Six Gun Sound, 5150, and Larger than Life to create a mafia RPG set in the Roaring '20s. You can start as an Associate and try to get yourself Made, or start from the top as the Don and call the shots, or anywhere in between. Still brainstorming ideas for how the campaigns would work, but I'm toying with the idea of "Mob Wars" that would basically be LTL-style Stories embedded within a 6GS-style Campaign, with a designated Antagonist to defeat such as an enemy Capo or Don, a corrupt Chief of Police, etc. And, of course, mechanics around staying out of jail, with the possibility of becoming a rat to save yourself from a campaign-ending prison sentence if you really mess up.
I'm also thinking of incorporating some ideas from my No Country for Old Men scenario, like enemy counters who patrol a travel map that you must avoid. I ran a game of No Country for my buddy last night and we really enjoyed how the Travel Map has a bit more purpose and urgency due to large groups of enemies patrolling around and chasing you. Don't get me wrong, I love the 6 Gun Sound campaigns and romping around the Old West, but at a certain point it becomes a question of "Where do I feel like going now?" without much sense of being pursued between states.
Oh, and I incorporated the Bad Blood mechanic from 6 Gun and renamed it "Breakin' Balls," which I'm unreasonably proud of.
