Some more questions from our game:
1) Alignment
The images in the rule book always show the units nicely aligned. However, in practice this rarely happens withou rather intricate maneuvers.
We played the any kind of contact, whether at an angle or offset from the center was a valid contact and resulted in a combat.
An example: two Austrian regiments (white) against two French Regiments (blue), resulting in a 2 vs.2 fight
2) Artillery defending built-up-areas
On the left of the picture you see an Austrian bataillon in a built up area. There is an artillery battery supporting defending against the French n the upper left. We assume that this works exactly like artillery supporting an infantry unit in the open? That is, they add +1 when the infantry/built up area is charged, the crew retreat when behind the infantry etc.
