If you play Warring Fleets or are just interested in ancient naval warfare, here's an interesting article debunking a lot of myths surrounding ancient naval warfare. Then again, Warring Fleets is set in a fantasy world, so maybe you might want to keep some of these myths.
In an earlier post, I bemoaned the lack of ramming in the new edition of the rules. It turns out that ramming the opposing ship was a thing of the past by Alexander the Great's time. The only naval force on Talomir that would even consider ramming would be the anachronistic Valkae Amazons who are equivalent to Classical Greece, a late Bronze Age culture.
