Hi all,
Is there any lore or history around Talomir as a setting? Something akin to a gazetteer or chronicle? Any short stories? Just curious if anything like that is out there.
Thanks!

There's a little bit of lor in each of the Talomir Tales Scenario books - but you have to realize to keep an affordable price, us authors had to keep the page count down, so that means not much space can be devoted to lore.
Ther are also bits & pieces scattered across a lot of the older Warrior Kings titles & the early Warrior Heroes Armies & Adventures.
On line, there was a website that had a RRtK campaign that had some lore, I'll have to look it up, I can't remember the name at the moment.
My blog has some, mostly related to Valkae & I've got lots & lots of notes & drafts which I could share if anyone is really interested. I have a draft of a Valkae source book that has the history and current state affairs of the Amazon city states. Also have some info on an island off of the coast of Mirholme called Jotunhiem. There's a small Mirholme settlement there & it's the home of the Norns and Forst Giants - lots of Frost Giants.
What are you interested in?

Dummy me, the website was Talomir Tales - hosted by Ruarigh with Ed of Two Hour Wargames, Sean of Sean's Wargames Corner, and Shorts2. In case you don't know, Ruarigh did that wonderful map of Talomir which appeared in the Talomir Tales series..

AF, I'm intrigued by your comments about Jotunheim. The only island near Mirholme on any of my Talomir maps is one that is about equidistant Mirholme, Capala, and Tereken. Is that Jotenheim? I spend a lot of time adventuring in that area, and always wished I had more information about that particular island. If there's no canon, maybe it's time to go exploring.

No, the island on the RRtK map & Raurigh's Talomir Tales map is a part of Tereken. I don't think it has a name, I asked once & all of the old Warrior Kings players drew a blank. They told me I could name it whatever I wanted, but by then I had by passed it in favor of an island hidden by the artic mists not on the map. Jotunhiem is actually northwest of the western most point of Mirholme.
The only reason anyone would go there would be to consult the Norns - Skuld, Urd and Verthandi (who we all know moved to Japan in the 20th century where Verthandi changed her name to Bell Dandy - it's an anime & manga so it has to be true!).
Anyway, I had a Talomir Tales draft that never quite came together & there were several encounters on Jotunhiem.

So Jotunheim is not on any map. Time to sail beyond the sunset! Thanks for all the information, AF.

There are a lot more islands on the new map by Paul Barbe. Jotunhiem, however would be about 1/16th of an inch northwest of the western coast of Mirholme - somewhere under the "W" in "World Map". Kind of like that misty Hisen island int the Viking movie that had Richard Widmark & Sidney Poitier.
I just looked up - gosh I'm old - that movie came out in 1964. It's not quite as good as The Vikings with Kirk Douglas & Tony Curtis. I'll be quiet now since half the folks on the forum are thinking this is an "old folks" forum.
Wonder how many caught the reference to Ah! My Goddess?

Don’t forget the map is your map. The last map is an idea of talomir not the real true. Islands, forest , mountains are just an idea. At this time map was not necereally true. As an example i draw a frontier to the north on the new map. I love the idea of a frozen waste far away. So i you want an island somewhere, draw it!! I can, if ED is ok, draw all your future ideas on another map.

Wonder how many caught the reference to Ah! My Goddess? It seems that Nameless Island (Oilean Gan Ainm?) has been sundered into an archepelago on the Barbe map. And Jotenheim is the Iceland/Rime Isle of legend? What other wonders may be waiting to be discovered? And, no, I missed it.:-(

The Barbarian let out a loud laugh but it was barely heard above the din in the tavern. Whytehaven was the westernmost port on the Upper Reaches, the northern most part of the Western Ocean. It was the meeting place for Mirholme sailors who spent the cold months in the southern waters and the warm ones in the Upper Reaches. Whytehaven was bustling now with the warmer months coming. It was easy for a Mirholme man to find work on the ships that were heading north. And that was Haldor’s plan. Well it was until he heard what Kiriel had in mind. “You’re crazy,” Haldor said as he motioned for the ale-maid with two fingers for two more mugs of ale. “You want one?” Kiriel had to smile. These Barbarians really are a simple folk driven by life’s small pleasures. There was something to be said about that life. “No, no, I’m fine.” Looking into Haldor’s eyes she continued. “And I’m not crazy…at least not about that.” As the ale-maid dropped off the mugs Haldor gave her two Talos and a wink. “Will you be finished soon?” “I help close the tavern tonight,” she smiled. “I’ll wait,” he replied. As she walked away he turned to the Elf. “What’s wrong?” “Nothing,” she lied. “Do you want the job?” Haldor laughed, again. “It’s a fable.” “It’s the truth.” “There’s nothing to the west except storms and monsters. And you want to sail west, father than anyone has sailed before?” “If you’re afraid I understand,” she nibbled the small brown cake. “I’m not afraid of anything,” he replied with a smirk. “Then you are stupid Barbarian,” she said looking into his eyes. “There are things out there that you should be afraid of. Deal?” “You’re crazy you know?” Haldor rubbed his chin, “But that is a lot of Gold Talos. What’s this place called?” Kiriel smiled. “It’s called ...”
