Hi all,
I'm going to reply inside the message. Here goes.
Digging through the new WH books, really liking what I see.
Warring Fleets has a few things I'm curious about and would like clarification on:
Page 14 Engage -- I assume this one is a typo -- the PDF says roll 2d6 vs. Rep, but the table itself is a Move roll, not a 2d6 roll. Is this correct? Not quite. You roll 1d6 per pointg of Movment so roll them all versus Rep. Shouldn't say 2d6 vs Rep, should say d6 vs. Rep
Page 15 Fire -- The table states "LOWER R ATE : Count -1 to Rep for each Rate lower than the Target.". Would a Rate 2 firing on a Rate 4 be at -1 or -2 for this? I assume -1, but wanted to double check. -1 as the smaller faster would be harder to hit.
Battle Tactics -- are they just flavor in these rules? Seems like there wouldn't be a real way to affect their use in battle, given the deployment and WFW phases seem pretty cut-and-dried... It ties into the tac tics used in To Be King. Just a reflection. Hope this helps.
Thanks!

Warring Fleets has a few things I'm curious about and would like clarification on:
Page 6 War Rating -- in a campaign setting, is this determined for a fleet on a per-fight basis, per season, per year, or only when a new CinC takes over? I'm curious if it abstracts just the CinC's personal ability to wage a war, or rather is a representation of the specific fleet currently in the specific encounter. It's the current CinC's ability to command the fleet.
Page 13 Who Fights Who -- I get that if the smaller fleet wins the advantage, that the unattached ships at the end of the larger fleet's line would be left unengaged. But on the other side of the coin, if the larger fleet wins advantage, and has more than 2 additional ships, how do they get assigned? Say a fleet of 4 is facing a fleet of 7, and the 7-ship fleet wins advantage. Do all 3 edge ships get to engage opponent ships like this:
(Before WFW phase)
(After WFW phase)
Or would, say, B Ship 1 remain unengaged and B Ship 2 would engage A Ship 1 on the flank? I ask because the stop box on page 16 states that you can only double up on the flanks (but this isn't elsewhere in the PDF, as far as I can tell), and the rules say you can't triple-up (or more) on one ship. Correct, the two outside ships in diagonal contact can swing aroind and engage, the ones not in contact cannot.
(Before WFW phase)
| A Ship 1 | A Ship 2 | A Ship 3 | A Ship 4 | ||
B Ship 1 | B Ship 2 | B Ship 3 | B Ship 4 | B Ship 5 | B Ship 6 | B ship 7 |
(After WFW phase)
B Ship 2 | |||||
B Ship 1 | A Ship 1 | A Ship 2 | A Ship 3 | A Ship 4 | B Ship 7 |
B Ship 3 | B Ship 4 | B Ship 5 | B Ship 6 |
