Just got 5150: Send Lawyers, Guns and Money. Great stuff. Codifies some areas I kludged in my on-going No Limits campaigns, including the whole "interacting with the local law" thing. Already incorporating it.
One question, though: SLGM imposes a -1 Rep d6 charge per band member. NL does not. The payouts don't seem to be greater in SLGM. Is NL looser to encourage more space-trucking adventures? Or will the more spendy SLGM work as well in NL. Ed, what do you recommend?

SLGM is set in NHC and expenses are greater there - basically you aren't spending for ship upkeep so they tag you for more personal expenses. I didn;t want to put that in NL and then increase the spaceship expenses. I use SLGM and tack on the NL spaceship expenses.

Thanks, Ed. My crews stay on board when they are dirtside. If they want to go off on a bender, that's on their dime. But I suppose the upkeep cost of the ship should be higher in spendier places. Recently, Zack Levi had the Baruch to Gaea Prime for a turnaround, and the tab there should be more than 3 Rep d6! I'd expect New Hope, a Class 2 colony, to be pretty typical costwise. And a Class 3 rock wouldn't be cheap, either. For ease of story, you might be able to get what you need, but it'd cost you. I'm going to see if there's a way to vary costs without adding too much complexity. (I suspect you've worked this issue already.)

Well depends if you are making a Stop and Drop, Short Haul or Long Haul. What?!

Always something new! Like it. Gonna steal parts and patch them into our campaigns. (Never, ever, can play anything straight!) Thanks, Ed.

Is it complicating things too much to wonder what the upkeep on rep would be for a class 1 or class 3 planet? Or is it more of a case of how affluent each separate habitation is? I’m all for keeping things simple so if there’s an easy answer I’m curious. Else, forget I asked...

I wrestled with some ideas, then realized that even easy answers overlook the fact that Rep d6 are not the same as money. KISS.

I’m sure you’re right but would be interested if Ed has any thoughts? Back int he day there was detail. Items, how many you could carry, cost for things, upkeep, fuel etc. Didn't add anything to the games. Actually took away form playing by having so much bookkeeping. So Increasing and Decreasing Rep d6 was born. That and the desire to play games. You could do that kind of stuff, but again, do you need the bookkeeping. It's a matter of taste I guess. I know SLGM is less bookkeeping and All She Wants to Do is Dance is adding more stuff but no increase in bookkeeping.

You’re right of course but sometimes I get tempted to complicate the issue. As for ASWTDID I am now fascinated by ‘More Stuff’! I’m impatiently waiting for my SLGM copy from my printer. I’m going to use it to make New Hope my base then jetset around the Galaxy with NL. Previously I would use Dark Alleys, Bright Lights. I can now officially replace that with a new rules book that covers all of New Hope. Cool! An idea for a new book might be a set of habitation templates that you can choose from when visiting different planets. Reckon that would be great.

I think that's part of the definition of a wargamer.
