It's based on your figures and how you choose to base them. Set for 15mm figures with 3 to 5 per base. Movement is 6 to 9 inches; small arms range is 18" and the other ranges adjusted to fit. Mortars 48", bazooka types 6". I didn't want to set an arbitrary scale and make people base their figures accordingly. Instead, you can use whatever figures, however based as you want. There are many great figures out there (and we’re not selling any) so use whatever you like, as long as the two sides are based the same.

Thanks, but I am not worried about figures per base etc, as they are already based from previous rules. My reason for asking about ground scale was that it is difficult trying to reproduce a map of an actual battlefield on the gaming board without an idea of the ground scale. My assumption is that it was about 20m per inch, based on a bazooka effective range being 120m. That gives a board of about 720m width and depth.

True ground scale is always difficult to get right in games where a 60mm Company support mortar can shoot out to 2000m, and things move at variable speeds. If you want approximations the way I see it, then:
Game scale: roughly 50m per inch (or 25m per centimeter).
Turn length: 1 Minute/turn. In order to match up with weapons ranges, then each turn has to be about a minute of real time. E.g., in game Infantry movement is 6"/turn, or ~300m. A typical infantry with equipment may be able to move 3-4m/second, so that's between 60-75sec to move that far.
But then adjust to what makes sense for your game.
