Hello all,
Over the past day or so I've been (finally) getting started with Warrior Heroes: To Be King. I've played a few Two Hour Wargames in the past (e.g. Nuts, Star Army and Star Fighters) though not played any of the previous fantasy/medieval/ancients big battles systems like Rally Around the King. I have played out the first battle of a simple 1 nation v 1 nation campaign and I've got a few questions. I've yet to read the full book front to back so please forgive me if any of the following is spelled out fully obviously in any sections I might have missed and/or completely misunderstood due to my own stupidity!
If in a melee an enemy unit is defeated (i.e 3 steps "Rout") and removed from the table, the victor gets a follow up movement and this puts them in contact with another enemy unit just behind the one that just broke, does another melee begin this turn or is it more a thing of them being nearby but not yet engaged?
I can voluntarily subdivide a body into other bodies so long as it is declared and I have the war rating points to activate it as a separate body/unit, yeah?
I have been tracking "Recover Routers" not only my own force but also the enemy's. Is this correct? After the first battle (which was on the border with me as the aggressor) the rolls were absolutely not in their favor, and they've lost a staggering amount of forces, having only two units of Orc Warriors, one unit of Black Moon Orcs and a unit of Bug Bears left to field. Meanwhile, my force was entirely unscathed - all my routers made their way back in good order, anyway. Do they get the units listed as the base army of their list back each battle, or is next Spring the only opportunity a nation has to recover losses? Also, if they are fully wiped out (as they may very well be, being reduced to four stands) in the next battle for the Interior and yet somehow get a "keep fighting" result on the national morale test does this mean advancing to and capturing their capital unopposed if so? Or will it be the war ending prematurely before the capital is captured (as if an enforced peace)? Speaking of campaigns, the index makes reference to a system called "Province Value" found on page 41 but it does not appear to be there. Is this just a slip-up I should forget I ever saw?
Finally, how backwards compatible is To Be King with materials for and from RRtK and such?
Thank you for your time!
Edit: Noticed a section I passed over that answered a large chunk of my questions, so I've removed those ones. If you saw an older version of the post, fuggedaboudit
