It was well into the third watch as Queen Celeste gazed sleepily into her bowl of wine. Thoughts swirled as vapors, her hated enemy, the Elector of Capalan was engaged in a war with Mirholme, which meant there would be no invasions from either for some time. The ancient foe of Imperial Tropilium was likewise involved with wars in the East, along the shores of Mare Tropilium. The witch queen of Latona continued to weaken her people and was ripe to be toppled. However, if Queen Celeste moved on Latona, Asteria would come to their aid. No, if she were ever to unite Valkae under single rule, she would have to conquer the democracy loving Asterians. Ah, but the democracy of Asteria would play into her hands, Queen Hippolyte's twenty-year term as queen was ending, as well as the terms of the High Admiral of the Fleet and the General of the Armies at the same time. The attention of all of Asteria would be on the Winter Solstice elections. While Asteria would come to the aid of Latona, Latona would not lift a finger to help the Asterians. With no fear of invasion from any of the nations along the Kimean Sea, she could unleash the entire force of Nycenae, all of its armies and fleets against Asteria. An invasion of her "sister" nation would require careful planning. I'm excited to play my first ever solo map campaign & I've decided to share all of the prep work as well as the games on my blog. Here's the introduction: Making a Darn Good Game More Complicated

Well, the initial steps were to determine who the combatants would be, the cause for conflict and where the campaign would take place. After deciding I wanted to do a large Amazon versus Amazon campaign, the next big step is to produce the campaign map. Here's the first step in campaign map making - the map's outline: The Outline Map

Very cool! I've also experimented with drawing maps in various programs, like ProFantasy and then overlaying a hexagon image on top.

Setting up a map campaign is more detailed than I thought. Here's a post on where each nation's armies and navies are located: Armies and Navies

Whew! The last of the prep work is done, I can start playing the campaign. The last tasks were to develop strategic plans for the aggressor and a defensive strategy for the defender. More on the final preparations to play a solo campaign are here: Campaign Mobilization

Your solo map effort is outstanding. I found the three courses of action aspect very clever. The war band heroes guide for WHAT must be out of print. Thanks for posting about WHAT in general, since I tend to avoid the heavy rules oriented systems such as Pathfinder.
