I'm reading an Erle Stanley Gardner novel I recently purchased. I snagged a good deal on a 1954 hardback copy of "The Case of the Restless Redhead." Perry Mason was my mother's favorite television series of all time. It has become one of my favorites as well, I binge watch episodes from time to time.
Anyway, I've noticed that in reading the book, whenever I read Perry Mason's dialog, I hear Raymond Burr in my head, when reading Della Street's dialog, I hear Barbara Hale, and so on. Does this ever happen to you?
In case you're too young to know what I'm talking about:

Absolutely. If I read Raymond Chandler or Dashiell Hammett I always hear Humphrey Bogart.

I’m re-reading Lord of the Rings at the moment and the actors from the film are certainly doing the heavy lifting. I’ve no idea how they sounded before 2000 now.
