Dears,
I’m new to the world of 5150, I got a copy of Fighter Command and finally I was able to get a couple of games.
I’m usually quite comfortable with the reaction mechanisms, and I thoroughly enjoy the rule sets that foresee them, but I have to say that the In Sight tests got me a bit uncertain about how to manage some situations.
Here are a few examples of situations I found a bit difficult :
1 - Lt. Killy is flying his fighter during the movement phase and gets within 5” of Scratch, an Hishen pilot. Killy moves another inch and then they both test for In Sight. They get the same successes and shot each other at the same time. At the end of this exchange of fire they are still healthy and in control of their craft. They both should test reaction for received fire, but when?
A - First Killy completes his movement and then they test reaction?
B - they first test and then, if possible, Killy completes his movement?
C - Killy completes his movement and they don’t take the Received Fire because it would reaction fire to a reaction?
2 - Lt. Killy is flying his fighter during the movement phase and gets within 5” of Scratch, the Hishen pilot. This time Killy is tailing Scratch so that he is outside of the 180^ forward arc. Is the In Sight test triggered even if Scratch has no line of sight?
I’d say that Killy moves another inch and then he automatically succeeds in the test and decides to fire at Scratch. Now Killy compl his movement. If Scratch is still alive he will test for Receiving Fire and, if successful he could fire back or Dogfight…
Thank you for your help
