I wanted to play some fantasy games again, especially after reading a book titled, ‘One for the Morning Glory.’ I decided to go with LOA and want a Dual Class Melee/Missile. My question is, can I start as both classes or do I have to start as one and gain the other in place of increasing my Rep?
Also, when performing Challenges and Interactions, do I always use the higher Rep?
Thanks!

In the newer rules, a character with the melee class can fire a ranged weapon at a -1 to Rep. So, if your character is a Rep 5, he or she can fire a bow, throw a javelin, fire a musket etc. at a Rep 4.
Challenges and all other tests are taken at the character's Rep 5.
Hope this helps.

Just dusted off my copy of LOA & it treats Dual Class the same way, see page 69.

For challenges you could use the new Rep,Pep,Savvy system. Start with your Rep, you get one stat equal to it and one at -1. Use Pep for interactions and savvy for cerebral challenges. Use Rep for everything else. Instead of increasing your rep you can choose Pep or Savvy when successful. I like it.

Thanks, that does help. And I might include skills as well since they give characters a little something extra.
What’s funny is, while I was reading the part in the book where the captain of the guard, also known as The Twisted Man, took on an army of men and goblins, I imagined the fight in THW rules.
“Human attacker fails Charge roll; TTM shoots him; OD. Goblin enters melee; TTM passes 2d6 more; goblin goes OD. Human enters melee; TTM passes 2d6 more; human goes OOF; TTM takes physical challenge and passes; picking up the wounded man, TTM tosses him to the hungry goblins. Last few humans fail on Will to Fight table and flee.”
I kind of want to create a character based on him now for my game.

Another question. My character joined a Caravan (good pay, lots of travel, and you get to beat up people) and later wanted to recruit a Caster to help, as a Grunt follower. Does the Caster get the 2 inc D6 just like my character or would my character just get the 1 dec d6 for upkeep?

Cool, so I get to keep him. Thanks!
