I get a lot of enjoyment out of playing the Chain Reaction system, regardless of which THW game I'm actually playing. Now I usually play the games solo or occasionally co-op and so naturally I use the solo mechanisms to manage the enemy side. I recently realised that a large part of my enjoyment arises just because of that. The solo, PEF system generates tension and challenges better than any other mechanism in any other wargame that I know.
So now the question arises, how can I best get the same result once I move to playing head to head with friends?
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Regards, Chris

Easy. Start with one unit each. Have 3 PEFs each. Make one the real unit and the other two nothing. Then move the PEFs as you want. Play the Mission of choice. Hope this helps.

Thanks Ed. Great idea and simple. (Doh, why didn't I think of that?)
Taking it a bit further, rather than having two blanks, known to the owning player, I could play the PEF Resolution table as normal and use "there's something out there" to generate a new, randomly placed, reinforcements PEF somewhere on the table. It isn't resolved until spotted but once resolved it generates a small, random reinforcement that can be for either side. So stay frosty!
Oh my ears and whiskers, where's my pencil and paper?
