Okay, I tried getting these answered by looking at previous posts. I found some answers, but some I either did not find or just need final clarification.
180 degrees front arc is required for LOS. That means if every model in an enemy group is facing south and I come in from the north, I do not roll an in-sight test. I just shoot. Since no in-sight is rolled, at this point can I just move instead and not shoot? And, I assume, if half the group is facing you and the other half is not, the whole group still reacts to the in-sight test
If a group is behind cover, is there a way for one figure to "peek" the corner to get LOS on a PEF without triggering an in-sight test? Like a roll to see if they saw you? Or would you just have to roll an in-sight test as normal? With that, if you win the in-sight test, would you HAVE to fire? Or could you just move back in cover? There's plenty of scenarios I can see where guys would want to peek to make sure an area is clear. To resolve all of these circumstances with someone HAVING to shoot seems a bit off to me.
Similar situation. If you're moving a group from one piece of cover to another piece of cover less than 2" apart, let's say you're moving the whole squad as a group, you can use the extra 2" movement to get each figure across and out of sight before the in-sight test. If the enemy you crossed in front of was a PEF, would you now resolve the PEF? or does it figure you were focused on where you were running and so did not get a good view on the enemy?
Similar question. If I'm behind cover, have a known enemy around the corner, for whatever reason don't want to get into a firefight right here, but just want to get from A to B. My plan is to peek an LMG around the corner shooting and hopefully cause the enemy to duck back so the rest of my boys can move without triggering further combat. I'm assuming the mechanics will not allow me to pop the corner firing? I still have to roll an in-sight test to see who reacts first? This kind of makes sense if the enemy knows I'm there and are waiting for me to pop out, but lets say they don't know I'm there, but I still know they're there, it seems a bit less likely they would be able to react before I lay waste with the LMG.
When charging into melee, if that movement triggers an in-sight with a different group, does that in-sight always end my charge? If my charge continues after, does that affect the charged group's ability to take a shot at me? Like, if they can't based off the original role, can they now?
If a figure ducks back as a reaction to getting shot at, they still take the man down test if they fit the other parameters? So instead of ducking back, they can potentially leave the battlefield?
When rolling reinforcements, whether actual reinforcements or PEF resolution, the reinforcement table is pretty generic. Is there a way to decide which type of infantry it is (regular infantry vs airborne)? or which fighting vehicles it is (Panzer vs half track)? Or should I just make the decision on my own?
So I see that allies block LOS, but do enemies do not. So if I'm shooting into a group of 4, and the first 3 completely block the 4th, I can still target 4 (in fact I have to target 4 if I've already targeted the first 3) without any negative to my roll?
I think that's it! Sorry, there is a lot, but I think most of it is just a yes or no answer.
Thanks for the help!
