Hi All,
Recently picked up Machinas - Death Races In The Wasteland, which, I admit, passed me by when Ed first released it.
I'm reading through the rules (the origional rules, but I am aware of the additional/ updates etc, which I might try at a later date when I have the game mechanism under my belt) but can't get my head around Shooting. I have 3 immediate questions which I'd like help with please.
1. The rules state "Note that to shoot you must be in the same slot as the target and behind it" does this mean directly behind it (i.e. in the immediate spot behind the target) or could I shoot at a car two spots ahead of me but in the same slot?
2. The rules state "When allowed by the Passing Table, Drivers may attempt to shoot at their opponent." - But, looking at the results on the Passing Table I cannot see any mention of 'Driver may attempt to shoot" or some such option. So when does the Passing Table allow shooting?
3. The rules state "NPCs that are Out of Position at the end of the Challenge Phase, will always shoot!" and "You must succeed on the Passing Table to be able to shoot" - How do I reconcile these two? An NPC that is Out of Position cannot attempt a pass, so will not roll to pass on the Passing Table, therefore cannot succeed on it and therefore cannot shoot.
Grateful for any clarification/ education.
Many Thanks Steve

Hi All, Recently picked up Machinas - Death Races In The Wasteland, which, I admit, passed me by when Ed first released it. Here goes in red.I'm reading through the rules (the origional rules, but I am aware of the additional/ updates etc, which I might try at a later date when I have the game mechanism under my belt) but can't get my head around Shooting. The spot directly behind it.2. The rules state "When allowed by the Passing Table, Drivers may attempt to shoot at their opponent." - But, looking at the results on the Passing Table I cannot see any mention of 'Driver may attempt to shoot" or some such option. So when does the Passing Table allow shooting? Passing Table page 29. Under Passing and Target Car columns, score more successes has option to Shoot.3. Shooting when passing comes from the Passing table as you are adjacent and must line up a shot. Ar end of Challenge Phase the target car is in front and lined up to be shot. If you are Out of Position and in spot directly behind. Hope this helps.
Grateful for any clarification/ education. Many Thanks Steve

Many thanks for the swift reply Ed, a few follow-up questions...
1. All good thank you very much.
2. Now I know I'm old, but for the life of me I cannot see a option to shoot on the Passing Table - I'll email you a pdf. copy of the passing table I have in case it's incorrect.
3. Nope. Still not getting it (sorry). This might be because I can't see an option on the Passing table whch allows you to shoot. - I'll await your verdict after I snd you the pdf of the Passing table I have,
Cheers Steve

PDF sent.
End of Challenge Phase, you can shoot.
Now that's over and you get to the Passing Phase eventually, so new mechanics - then use the Passing Table to resolve. It's on the PDF I sent.

Brilliant Ed, the new pdf. makes perfect sense and as a bonus it has proved I'm not yet as blind or senile as I had feared 😂🤣😂
Looking forward to firing up the engines soon.
Much appreciated Steve
P.S. Don't forget to send Mike at Rebel Minis the correct pdf. otherwise other purchasers might also drive themselves crazy trying to make sense of the incomplete/ wrong pdf he is using at the moment.
