For those who have played Jenga, you probably thought how to use these is wargaming. Jenga is a bit expensive but there may be a solution. If you have local Dollar Tree stores, where everything is a dollar, they carry in the toy department something called Tumbling Blocks. For $1, you get a total of 72 blocks. Each approximately 48mm x 10mm x 16mm or 1 7/8" x 3/8" x 5/8". These are excellent building blocks and at just over a penny a piece, you can never have enough.
They paint easily and make great walls (especially when painted red) with bricks penned over the painted surface. Stack two together length wise, spray green and you can create hedges approximate 4" high when cover with flocking material. If you game with 6mm troops, the blocks can be laid out to create ancient walled cities, forts, etc. A recent build, I was able to create a reasonable facsimile of the Alamo. Using a small dab of white glue you can temporarily glue blocks together for stability in your buildings, walls, etc. When finished, simply break apart...and reuse for your next project.
They also are great for creating collapsed buildings for various projects, such as Stalingrad. You are only limited by your imaginations. I wished when I was building these projects that I had thought to photograph the completed items. Live and learn. I hope this spurs your creative nature present in all wargamers. One last suggestion, if you find the Tumbling Blocks, buy several boxes at a time. You will find that you never have enough. They usually sell out within a week and it may take a long time to restock.
Enjoy
