Hi
I bought 2HDC a while back but due to commitments I haven't played it yet but starting to this weekend and really looking forward to it. So I know I'm playing it correctly I have some questions about the rules that I hoped you would be able to clarify as I read through them, apologies in advance if some of these seem pretty basic:
1. Page 5 Para 8.1 example Rep 5 Dwarf/Warrior rolls 5d6 on the Charge into Melee test and rolls 1,2,4,5 and 6 for 3 successes? - where does the extra success come from?
2. Page 9 Para 18.2 example Rolling 2d6 for a group fast move and getting a 3 and a 5. Rep 5 leader passes 2d6, Rep 4 grunt passes 1 d6 but why does the Rep 3 grunt pass 0d6?
3. Page 9 Para 18.3.1 Duck Back - If in melee and no square is available to move into, remain in melee and count -1d6 in the next round. If a melee has to be completed to OOTF or OD, I don't understand how they could get a Duck Back result.
4. Page 9 Para 18.4 Characters can move any direction even diagonally upto 6 squares on the battleboard but must stop when they move adjacent to an opponent. Do adjacent squares include squares that are diagonal to the opponent as well as the four squares front, rear, left and right of them?
5. Page 13 Para 23.6.1 -1 Rep. Character loses a round of melee and has its Rep reduced by 1 point and another round of melee is immediately fought. When rolling the d6 on the melee combat table 24.2 do you continue rolling the same number of d6 as the original Rep, or do you now roll the reduced number of d6 matching the modified Rep?
6. Referring to (5) does this melee continue until the result is OOTF or OD before moving onto doing anything else with any other characters?
7. Referring to (5) what happens when Rep reaches 0?
8. Can a character break off combat during a melee or does it continue until a result is reached?
9. Page 14 Para 23.7 Auto-kill or Capture. If a character has beaten his opponent in melee with an OOTF result is he already in contact straight away and can decide to kill or capture at that point in the game?
10. Page 15 Para 24.2 example Rep 3 warrior with no mods rolls 3d6 and scores 1, 4 and 6. He has scored 2 successes, as he is using a shield. I don't understand why this results in 2 successes. I thought this would be 1 success? Using a shield gave a +1d6 mod which would mean he rolled 4d6 instead of 3d6?
11. Page 31 Table 9.0.5 - Attributes Soldier - Duty - Always count as pass 2d6 when taking the charge into melee test. Does this mean I roll d6 equivalent to his rep but can count upto 2d6 failures as successes? which means without any other mods, the max number of successes achievable is his Rep? or does it mean he could achieve his Rep + 2 successes?
12. On the Melee Combat table a circumstance mod is Charge - If the character won the previous Charge into Melee test +1d6. Does the character get this mod every round of melee or just in the first round? and does all characters within the group receive this bonus or just one character?
Thanks in advance for help clarifying these points for me.
