If it makes sense to do so how do To Be King and Great Hall Burning compare? Basically I have enough tokens for 3 nations to spar with each other. I find myself wondering if To Be King is worth my investment as someone who would only use tokens and the battle board approach (if there is an analogue) for To Be King??
Thanks.

Great Hall Burning is a large skirmish or Warband strength game set primarily in what is commonly called the Dark Ages - 700 CE to 1000 CE. Each token or figure represents one to five men.
To Be King is a mass battle game where each unit, stand or token represents 500 to 1000 men. You have different troop types performing different functions on the battlefield.
There's a lot of difference in tactical scale. In To Be King you have to worry about your flanks, know when to commit a reserve, as a general you have less direct control over the behavior of the troops.

Okay. So completely different. I was wondering if I could transfer my viking battles in to a fantasy context. Thanks for the info.

In terms of scale, Great Hall Burning is very similar to Warrior Heroes Warbands, Captains & Kings, and the venerable Montjoie!.
The tokens and/or figures used in To Be King represent troop types - for instance a token with two horsemen represent skirmish cavalry, a token with 3 horsemen represents standard cavalry and a token with 4 horsemen usually represents Knights - each token can have Rep between 3 to 5 (but Rep 5 skirmishers are pretty rare). Tokens of foot soldiers are the same depicting 2, 3, or 4 figures & represent everything from skirmishers to missile troops & melee troops. Tokens with only one figure usually represent war machines such as catapults, early cannons or elephants or Giants.
A typical army would have 12 to 20 tokens for average battles & large battles could easily include twice the number of tokes - but those really large games will take longer to play. I think it would be difficult to play To Be King on an 8" X 10" battle board, but manageable on say an 8" X 14" battle board or larger. I think an ideal surface for tokens & 6mm to 15mm figures would be a 2' X 2' surface. You will want a little maneuver room for To Be King.
