I am another occasional poster from the old forum, and I just signed up over here. It is good to be back!
I have been playing Chain Reaction 2018 on a Battle Board, and I like the smaller, quicker format. I have some questions about the Turn Sequence on page 5.
Question 1: After the first turn, and both sides have completed all of their actions and taken Will to Fight tests, where do I start up again? Roll for Advantage,
Roll to see who is Active, or just keep going back and forth, with both sides taking turns being active?
The last sentence in the Turn Sequence says to "Repeat the process until only one or no sides remain on the Battle Board.".
Does that mean that I go back to the first step, "Consult the Action Table", then "Roll 1d6 to see who has the Advantage" for each turn? I have been only been
rolling for Advantage at the beginning of each Encounter.
Or, does it mean to start the next turn with each leader rolling 2d6 to see who is active, and carry on from there?
Or, does it mean that Advantage and Active are only rolled at the beginning of the first turn, and the two sides just take turns being Active from there on?
Question 2: On page 9, in the grey "Stop!" box, it says "The side with the Advantage acts first and can Shoot, Charge into Melee, Recover from Duck Back, or Leave the Battle Board."
I thought that Advantage gives that side an "edge" by being in cover, gets to be Active when both sides pass the same number of d6 when rolling to see who is Active, etc.
I have been playing it like the Active side gets to do all of those actions, like Shoot, Charge, Recover, Leave, etc.. It is my understanding that the side without Advantage could still act first,
if they win when both leaders roll 2d6 to see who is Active. Have I been playing it wrong?
Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks!
