I apologize if this has been asked before, when I did the search I didn't get the answer I was looking for.
I understand both are standalone but compatible, but don't really know the details to that. What are the differences between the two games? Is it worth getting both? I just got Star Army.

Star Army is more ground-based, whereas star marine deals more with ship-boarding actions, and works with Star Navy and Carrier Command to fill that role. Also has rules specifically tied to man-to-man combat in space, like high, low, and zero grav combat. Definitely worth checking out!

No worries. Also SDtar Marine focuses on your Star, your Character, a bit more than Star Army.

Thanks everyone!
I went ahead and got it today. Thanks for your email, too!
Another random couple of question, but in the “defend” section of Star Marine, it says to have a 12x12, with part of it being outside and part on the inside, and then there are three encounters.
Do all three encounters take place on the same map? Is the building sort of on map and off map, with the closest side being towards the enemy?
Thanks!

Correct, you are defdending the building and they are attacking. You get three contacts and they could be enemy soldiers, artillery barrage, sniper, etc. As long as you control the building you win the Mission. Hope this helps. Ed
