Hello everyone,
Just started playing Nuts! Big Battles. I have a few questions about the rule set.
I have answers.
1). The rule set I have shows a copyright 2016. I bought it from Drive Thru Wargames Website. Is this the most up to date version? Correct.
2). On page 8 directly below the heading of “Triggering the In Sight” is an example of a white platoon going through woods to see a grey platoon and triggering the In Sight test. I want to know if I am interpreting this correctly with regards to movement. The white platoon can move up to 6 inches. It spends its movement going through the forest (categorized as difficult terrain or not) and is seen by the Grey platoon. Before the Grey platoon does the test the White platoon may move additional 2 inches. Could this be back and stop the in sight test because they now are more than one inch away from the forest edge and cannot be seen by the Grey platoon, or the white platoon move forward two inches toward the Grey platoon? Yes, you can back out of sight.
3). The second bullet point states (on page 8 directly below the heading of Triggering the In Sight) “Once the test is triggered, the moving body is allowed to move up to 2 additional inches, even declaring a charge within reach.” Does this mean the White platoon moves 6 inches initially, is spotted by the Grey platoon and than may move another two inches, and then even move up to 9 more inches for a charge? So over all a total of 17 inches can be moved? And also I am assuming the charge occurs after the results of the In Sight test are done; in other words after everyone is done firing at each other and the White platoon is still able to move forward if possible. Is that correct? If within charge reach the unit can declare a charge and to contact. The charge hits home after all firing is done. Make sense. But the total distance moved cannot exceed 9". So if you move 1" into sight you can move an additional 8" into contact
4). Any recommendations on how to set up asymmetrical battles based on the rep stat? I’ll admit I come from playing Flames of War with their point system. I don’t want to make something so hard for one side that there is no chance of victory. Hint: I am trying to make more converts to your system... So far I have played one game so far and it was with Airborne platoon Rep 5 vs Two German platoons Rep 4 and 3. Two player game and we played Patrol. I played the Airborne and lost. Dice gods were angry with me that day...If played correctly. For an equal game try equal total Rep per side. For vehicles add the Armor Value and APR to get a total and play equal totals.
I really enjoy this system. I look forward to playing more. Hoping to here from some of the old warhorses on this forum.
They are here. Heck I've been doing minis since '74. Holy crap!
