One of the group's I can. Never get enough of has released a new album today. Whenever I'm painting or writing Sci-Fi, I love to listen to Band-Maid. They are a hard rock group that can dig deep into other genres. Some songs are down right funky & others border on metal.

Mostly retro synthwave. Though lately I've been adding Vietnam War era rock.

Don Henley? I wasn't much of a fan of the Eagles, I remained true to Zeppelin! I guess that's why I like band-Maid, they remind me a lot of Zeppelin - even Jimmy Page thinks so - when they toured the U.S., he went back stage to meet them and told Akane, the drummer, that she played like John Bonham.
It does make me feel a bit old when the music of my youth is referred to as an "era," but we did have cool music during the nearly 2 decades we were in Vietnam.

Metallica is at the very top of my list. In fact, when writing, I've found that I can focus better when listening to metal (except for this past year when I can barely focus on anything for more than 30 seconds).

Retro-country with contemporary themes that evoke a feeling of a gritty grindhouse 1970s/1980s redneck action/crime movie or retro Western. This song was featured in the movie Hell or High Water, but would equally be suited for No Country for Old Men. Many artists, like Colter Wall, are Canadian.

I’m a big Grateful Dead fan but I have quite broad tastes. I listen to a bunch of modern Jazz on the one side e.g. ‘Rymden’ or ‘Phronesis’ and hard rock like ‘Kabbalah’ or punk psych craziness like ‘The Osees’ on the other. Its all on Bandcamp which is where I buy 99% of my music.

I love a wide variety of music and I have a paid Pandora subscription so I can listen to music at work without commercial interruptions. I'll also listen to music via YouTube, but the commercial interruptions can be irritating as I haven't yet splurged on Premium.
I predominately listen to electronic ambient music from Steve Roach and other similar artists (Robert Rich, Vidna Obmana, etc.) because it can play in the background without breaking my concentration. However, off-work I can pop on the headphones and absorb myself into the soundscape.
More active electronic artists I enjoy include Klaus Schulze and Tangerine Dream (love the new line-up following the death of founding member Edgar Froese).
And even more active are electronic dance mixes, especially from the Global Underground series: John Digweed, Sasha, Dave Seaman, Deep Dish, etc. Coccolino Deep does these mixes on YouTube inspired by movies, with Fight Club and Blade Runner 2049 being my favorites. He also has 10 mixes listed under Seventeen, which I'm not certain is a movie.
I periodically listen to classical music. My favorite composer is Beethoven. Classical music tends to be difficult to enjoy at work due to the wide fluctuation in volume, but Bach, Mozart, and Hayden tend to be fairly even-keeled.
Within the realm of actual songs, I like pop/rock/folk from the 70s-80s that'll be more familiar to many of you: Fleetwood Mac, Flock of Seagulls, Gordon Lightfoot, Elton John. But I tend to gravitate towards songs rather than artists, so many of my favorite songs are from one-hit wonder bands: "Under the Milky Way" The Church, "Harden My Heart" Quarterflash, etc.
I also enjoy Enya, Love Spirals Downward, Dead Can Dance.
Jazz is a genre that has been sadly under-represented in my collection, so I've created a Miles Davis channel on Pandora that I'll listen to periodically.
Finally I enjoy listening to natural ambient sounds such as rain or ocean waves.
