I like Space Empires 4x by Jim Krohn. It is like the THW games very streamlined and extremely modular. Perfekt to create own stuff. Sometimes I wish some of the battles in Space Empires where more detailed. So I searched for rules to add what I'm searching for. While thinking about, what I want to replace the idea was growing and it ends up pretty large. Now my goal is better described like using Space Empires as a campaign to play with 5150 rules In this thread I will show you my progress in doing this. I would like to get your ideas as well and develop this together. By the way I'm not native English and you're welcome to help me writing all the rules in proper English I will try to implement the rules in it's original state. Additional I want just to use stuff integrated in the games. So you will not need to buy additional stuff to play.
This is the list with things I plan to implement: - ad skirmishes to boarding a ship
- ad skirmishes to cleaning a planet infested by replicators
- replace ground battles with 5150 battles
- replace space battles with 5150 battles
I will attach a file as soon as some rules are existing

To start with this large project I have to learn the THW rules. Because it is Sci-Fi the 5150 rules are the right ones. But where to start? I have asked this question in another thread and Master Ed the Two Hour Wargames Guy has answered. Ed recommended me to Start with Star Army because it could cover all ground fights. Later I could use Star Marine to make boarding skirmishes more detailed. Last I will use Star navy to expand the Space Battles. Sounds like a lot of work Knowing which rules fit best I have to learn the game. I have read the free ones before but there are details I have bought Star Army. First I thought I will use the paper soldiers, included in the PDF. But then I had an idea: I have decided to play as Star Army against Free Company. This mercenaries causing troubles and our job is to get rid of them. They have occupied an abandoned city and try to do something bad in there. I've chosen the sides because Star Army is stronger than the Free Company so it allows me to get into the game without getting frustrated fast because I'm loosing all the time. This Lego guys allowing me to visually represent their stats. The color of the visor represents REP. Orange is 5, Blue 4 and Yellow 3. On the right side is Star Army with lasers, where the black/orange ones are one shot and the blue one is 3 shot. In the background there are Grenade Launcher, Rocket Launcher and Plasma Gun. On the left side there is Free Company. Guns with yellow tip are A-3 Assault Rifles and one in the background (covered) with a blue tip is the A-4. Also in the background is the Rocket Launcher and 3 Androids, representing the Members with Hard Body armor. This modularity allows me to adjust to what ever I need. In the center there is one civilian if needed. Right next to the civilian, the only Star Army member with white trousers, am I. Directly behind "me" are 3 PEFs. Behind the PEFs is a bunker and on the sides different buildings. Now it's time to learn the game! As soon as I'm into it I will start creating first implementations into Space Empires.

Perfect use of the rules. Any figures, even counters will do. Be sure to ask questions as they come up and thanks for sharing.

Sadly it has taken very long, because of Corona. But now I'm able to continue my development. I hope I can release some small pieces soon. I want to implement the boni from space empires with attributes. Therefore I had a question at Ed the Two Hour Wargames GuyWhen does the effect of "Resilient" and "Hard as Nails" count? Once per game, per round or every time damage is resolved? If last one is intended, I have a BTA and "Hard as Nails" attribute then I just get OD if I'm getting hit by two sixes. Is that correct? If that character is a Star then he is close to immortal because of his extra powers. Btw. "Tough" is the same. When is this active? Once per game, round or every time it is resolved?

Based on Star Army Resilient Hard as Nails Tough All apply the 1st time occurs per Mission. The problem with a BTA Star is he will stick around as his men die or go out of the fight. Soon he's getting shot at many times in the same turn. So let's say even two Zhuh-Zhuh with A-3 score hits on him. That's 6d6 looking for a 6. Rocket launcher hit? A roll of 4 or higher becomes a 6. Yes, Star Power will help but remember Star Power lasts per Mission. So resolve 3 PEFs per Mission. It gets brutal pretty quick. It's common for players to read the rules and then when they play things can get a bit different than they expected.

Thank you for your help! That sounds good to me. But I thought more of an BTA Star in a BTA Squad and every Squad Member has the "Hard as Nails" Attribute. That would be a very tough squad. If Hard as Nails would trigger every damage roll they were very hard to kill. I just want to know it for balancing reasons. Therefore I need to check the most extreme situations I agree to that. I've made this experience already. This game is very brutal and every fighter could be killed very fast. Acting 1st is crucial in this game

Sadly I have to cancel my project I started while I had plenty of time because of "COVID-19". But now my spare time is shrinking away and I haven't enough time to continue this project. But I don't want it to be lost so I'm uploading what I have so far. Everyone is free to use and abuse it as he or she wants to . But if somebody continue this work I would be glad to be informed what sou are doing. Tha's just because if you are doing well I maybe will play it sometime
