As the 5150 'Verse has expanded over the last decade or more, we're seeing "rules creep" with overlapping editions and overlapping rules. Time to wrestle this amazing game into a unified rule book that essentially merges 5150 New Beginnings, 5150 Urban Renewal, Infestation content, etc and 5150 Fringe Space into a single No Limits updated book. In addition to all the good stuff you're familiar with: - Every alien ever mentioned - the main races and over 2 dozen others
- An expanded view of the 5150 universe with a new Nine Rings map, star system, planet and city generator letting you adventure anywhere
- An expanded look at New Hope and New Hope City
- New Encounters like Asteroid Mining, Pursuit (car chases, yay!), Travel and generating encounters outside cities where you can run into Xeno beasts
- Updated rules for Enhancements and PSY in one book
- A 16-mission starter campaign that takes you all over the New Hope star system
- Rules on Stuff -- how to get stuff and how your Lifetime Rep lets you get better stuff, without having to keep track of cash or credits
- Duels and Showdowns
- Basic space travel and space combat rules
So I would appreciate any help I can get to make sure I did this right. If you're interested, please PM me for more details. Cheers!

I'd like to take a peek at these, mind you I have Bill Nye & Neil deGrasse Tyson on speed dial for emotional support.

Just so people know that once this is released, any scenario books or subscriptions released will be strictly Encounters. No new rules! This let's you play all of them with one set of rules.

Howdy all. Starting to get some feedback on the book, thanks to those contributing. Based on that I have ported modified Robots rules over into 5150 from Future Tales, created Cyber Hacking rules (yay -- now Net Runners can strut their stuff), and someone asked about Drone rules. I'm thinking Drones are basically like an Item that you can use on a Challenge test to resolve one PEF during an Encounter, or get a Advantage in combat (the drones are scouting and sensing things for you). Ideas?? I don't want to make it too complicated, I'm thinking the drones in say, Minority Report, for example. Could someone with Drones use them to make a Shooting attack or Melee attack on someone?

Keeping in mind, I haven’t seen the draft copy, but if this isn’t for star army, I’d keep the drones in primarily a surveillance role, more of a spy tool than a direct action weapon. Perhaps some sort of opening roll that reveals a target building or PEF to find a specific POI? Maybe it assists the character in avoiding detection by providing some sort of bonus on the In Sight or Action table?
In a military sense, I’ve toyed with using them to reveal PEFs at the beginning of the game, basically a “scouting” phase.
Just some thoughts, hope it helps.
Thanks, Brian

Hi, Here's my thinking on Drones:
DRONES Sensor drones are a constant presence in the 5150 Universe, and can range in size from the hover-camera platforms used by Newsies, to small insect like crawlers and fliers, and even to sensor clouds comprised of nano-scale drone swarms. These rules don’t attempt to differentiate between them and assumes that most technological societies in 5150 will deploy a range of sensor drones for surveillance, security and entertainment. Of course, Bugs, most Xenos and low-tech opponents will typically not use drones systems.
HOW THEY WORK Drones are a type of Item you can get. They are support units, not combat units. Drones aren’t placed on the Battle Board, but instead provide a bonus to a Test or Challenge, or can be used to resolve a PEF during an Encounter.
Here’s how we do it: • If both sides have Drones, nothing happens – the Drones cancel each other out with moves and countermoves. • If only one side has Drones, they may use the Drones once per Encounter to o Resolve one PEF – the Drones have revealed an enemy to avoid or have helped you find what you wanted. o Get the Advantage in the first Turn of a Combat. o Give one figure a +1d6 REP advantage on one Test or Action
What do you think? Cheers!

Hmmm...thinking maybe you have to make a Challenge test to get the benefit of a Drone? Otherwise it feels like this could be a game breaker, used heavily as an unstoppable advantage. So perhaps it's a 2d6 Difficult Challenge (Netrunners get a bonus), Pass 2 = Success, Pass 1 = failure but can try again another turn but another Pass 1 = a Pass 0, and Pass 0 is failure and your Drones are expended/destroyed.

Yes. That sounds good

I'd also be very interested in checking this out, as the development of the THW system over the years has intensely fascinated me.
