Getting ready to play Fighter Pilot as a multi-player game over Zoom. Test play came up with some questions, and my thoughts on possible answers.
Match Up
If opponents tie, they match up. But what if two fighters on the same side roll the same an an opponent?
If the one side had more fighters, this may not be an issue, but in this case the sides were even. We had the two on the same side roll off to see which one would be matched.
Fighting Multiple Opponents
Possibilities are given for the outnumbered fighter beating all opponents, or beating some while losing to some, but there is nothing for losing to all. How do you line up in this case?
We played that the outnumbering fighters both went to the Take Control Table and that they both have a chance to fire if they succeed.
The example o page 8 has the Gaea Prime being followed by, and following Razor fighters. Does the GP fighter roll separately for each on the taking Control Table, or roll once and apply it to both? If to both, does the extra d6 for winning on the Maneuver Table apply to both?
We rolled a different colour die for the extra d6 and only applied it against the front fighter.
We also found that the Hishen seem to be at a bit of a disadvantage - getting lower REPs on average and losing a d6 on the Maneuver Table. Good as an opponent, but if playing them I would want an extra fighter.
We played 2 on 2, with an NPC each. Took about 45 minutes as we tried to get used to things. Interesting trying to see if Thrust, Firepower or Hull is most important. 1 Hull is very risky. Having higher Thrust is nice. There is more tactics than meets the eye at first. We had fun.
