I actually used both; Challenges when skill was necessary and yes/no rolls when it wasn’t.
Example: “Can i tell if Simon is lying?” Challenge “Is he lying?” Roll “Is he trying to rescue the chief’s daughter?” Roll + improv

"Gambling?" That's Savvy. Jumping from a moving train - Rep. Your mileage may vary

True, although that does bring up another Q. Why don’t other games besides Nuts use Fitness instead of measuring one’s physical ability with Rep? A Rep 7 deputy could be 90 lbs soaking wet, but people still fear him for his shooting skill and sharp mind.
