Just finished writing up a game I played yesterday. A game where a pitiful shot turned a defeat into a victory. Victoria's Luck

Close call! Btw, if you can add a Medic to your unit, the Medic can spend an Action to try and heal or stabilize a figure that is OOF. I have a house rule that a figure that was treated by a Medic, but after the 2d6 REP roll stayed OOF, gets +1REP when they roll on the After the Battle Recovery table. And that offer of collaborating on a NUTS SCW book still stands...
And congrats to you, your granddaughter!!

I chose to use only the assets of a single squad. The medics, like the HMG teams & mortar teams were a "centura" (company) level asset in the militias & doled out to the "secciones" (platoons) as called for by the mission. I set the encounter in early September when the militias were just beginning to understand the need for better organization.
I'm thinking of doing a die roll of perhaps a small table to see what company assets are available to my unit. There are also some things which were common in the regular forces that were hit or miss in the militias - grenades, for instance & LMGs were another (Victoria was lucky in that the outdated Chauchat didn't jam on her!).
But including a die roll to see if a medic is present in the unit is a good idea. Just think, if a medic wasn't along in Orwell's squad, there might never have been "Animal Farm" or "1984".

If you use have the NUTS Compendium you can do the non-combat "Wheeling & Dealing" encounter for the "Chocolate and Cigarettes" rules. There's an encounter called "I Know a Guy" (Compendium page 101) and you can try and barter to "Get an Edge" using a "Hustling" opposed challenge. Success could result in different extra support options for your next Mission, or you could take success to mean you get a Medic assigned to you somehow -- maybe their platoon got wiped out, or she just joined up and nobody has assigned her yet, etc.

What? "Hustling?" Sounds suspiciously capitalist, comrade. It seems offensive to Victoria's Marxist beliefs, though something the Stalinists would do & cover up! LOL! Then she can couch it in her best dialectic terms: "Comrade, the Workers can only prevail over their Fascist and Capitalist foes if all our energies are bent towards victory, and every resource is used. You, Comrade, for example, I can see your talents are wasted in personnel. Perhaps I could speak with the Comrade Colonel, we are trusted compatriots and I'm sure I could have you assigned as a glorious soldat in our militicia, carrying a rifle against our oppressors...we are need of new soldiers for our unit. You have important tasks, you say? Surely no more than this young medico sitting here with her talents being wasted...we must have someone for the front, Comrade...I shall speak with the Colonel and have you toting a rifle in battle in no time, why if you survive your first few days I'm sure you'll do well, and you'll soon be on field rations that will see you fighting trim restored!! Oh, what's that, you've just completed the paper work showing she's just been assigned to my unit? Well, it looks like my squad is full now, Comrade, perhaps another day..."
