Actually could apply to multiple games, come to think of it.
How do increasing/decreasing Rep d6 work for grunts? I could argue for several different interpretations, but I'm curious about how it's intended to work. (It also seems to me that an increasing or decreasing Rep d6 might not always be the exact same amount of money, influence, experience or whatever, it could be different things in different situations.)
Suppose the Star and a few Grunts are hauling cargo on their own ship.
- Ship maintenance DRD. Is it just the Star who gets those ("I'm the owner-operator, I pay the bills.") or everyone ("Everybody thinks I'm a deadbeat 'cos I work on that POS free trader.")
- Cargo/passenger/salvage IRD. Just the Star, or everyone? (Same arguments, so probably the same answer.)
- Individual awards for defeating a foe, interacting with an NPC, running away etc. - seems like those should go to whichever character does the deed, but I could see an argument for Rep being contagious - collective guilt, if you will.
- I presume the player is free to decide which Star/Grunt interacts with an NPC, to make best use of the group's abilities.
Thanks in advance!

I don't know what the intent was, but I would say, "it depends". Not very helpful, I know. What kind of game do you want? How much do you want to keep track of? If you just want a basic game without a lot of book keeping, just apply the increasing/decreasing d6 to the star. As you say, it is a generic status value (he pays his bills on time, has a good rep with local business, etc).
If you want more book keeping and possibility of crew leaving, then apply the d6 to whoever "earned" them. You may end up with a leader loosing rep and a grunt or two gaining rep. Then they leave and you have to roll up some new guys. Or the opposite happens and your leader fires the grunts. Maybe use that to setup future interactions (grunt got fired and now has a vendetta against the leader).
Have fun with it.

(It also seems to me that an increasing or decreasing Rep d6 might not always be the exact same amount of money, influence, experience or whatever, it could be different things in different situations.) Grunts can have their Rep increase and decrease like a Star. BUT, if they exceed the Star's Rep, whether the Star dropped or the Grunt rose, the Grunt quits the Band.
Suppose the Star and a few Grunts are hauling cargo on their own ship.
- Ship maintenance DRD. Is it just the Star who gets those ("I'm the owner-operator, I pay the bills.") or everyone ("Everybody thinks I'm a deadbeat 'cos I work on that POS free trader.") Right, but Grunts get 1 Increasing Rep d6 from the Star's total at the end of each month. Can't pay? The Grunt leaves and the Star collects 1 Decreasing Rep d6 in bad press.
- Cargo/passenger/salvage IRD. Just the Star, or everyone? (Same arguments, so probably the same answer.) See above.
- Individual awards for defeating a foe, interacting with an NPC, running away etc. - seems like those should go to whichever character does the deed, but I could see an argument for Rep being contagious - collective guilt, if you will. Individual Character.
- I presume the player is free to decide which Star/Grunt interacts with an NPC, to make best use of the group's abilities. Yep.
Thanks in advance!

Much obliged, Ed - I'd completely missed the Grunts getting an Increasing Rep d6 from the Star's total at month end, but it makes sense.

Ed, I know this rule is in other games, Fringe Space for example. But I have searched high and low and can not find it anywhere in my pdf copy of No Limits. Am I just missing it? Was it accidentally omitted? I noticed this "rule change" when I switched from FS to NL and it has a noticeable impact on game play. I just assumed it was an intentional change, since NL has a fixed monthly ship cost and FS did not. (I always have a ship, and I saw crew cost included in ship cost.) Should I apply the 1 DRD per band member cost in No Limits?

I left it out as I wanted No Limits to be easier and less detailed to start, then add optional rules later - that's one of them.
