So first fight with multiple fighters and it went really quick. That might have had something to do with my new pilot who turned out to not be so new after all with a Rep of 5. Wow, what a difference that Rep 5 makes! Ace pilots are really scary and i hope i don't have to deal with them very often because this guy just rips the enemy fighters up! Next battle i'll try and incorporate a capital ship and we'll see how that goes. Anyways, let me know what you guys think of the battle report and have a great day!
Carson “Cobra” Harper flicked through his nav readings as his wingleader Guy “Viper” Orelski called out the first position.
“One down, two to go.” Viper called as they banked and hit the afterburners towards the next one. A blip just registered at the outer limit of Cobra’s sensors and he clicked on it to zoom in.
“Hey, Viper! Looks like we got a bogey coming in at our 4 o’clock!” Cobra said as he squinted at the display. “Better make that two.”
“It looks like Hishen Hellbats, those same fighters you tangled with earlier this week. Stay on my wing and watch my six, I’ll make short work of them.” Viper said as they banked into the attack.
“Impetuous, Cobra. Enemy contacts, two Hellbats in sector 20A6, engaging.” Cobra said as he followed Vipers lead. The guy could be an ass but he knew how to fly.
Cobra could see the enemy fighters coming in now and the leader was anxious to engage as it started to leave its wingman to get to grips with them. Viper didn’t show any fear as he approached swaying from side to side to be an unsteady target, a technique Cobra made sure to remember. The lead enemy fighter got in gun range first and opened up with a hail of lasers knocking out Viper’s shields as he barrel rolled to avoid a hastily fired FF missile. Viper now in range unloaded with both rocket pods and mass drivers, smashing through the shields with a high velocity round which punctured the cockpit causing the ship to tumble uncontrolled. The enemy pilot must have been knocked out and Viper quickly realigned, sending another couple of rounds through the ship knocking out the shields and blowing out the cockpit as it broke apart as they passed. Cobra shook his head at the speed of Viper’s kill as the other fighter hadn’t even been able to get into the fight yet and was suddenly at a disadvantage.
Viper slid in toward the second fighter and opened up, rocking the enemy Hellbat with rounds but it looked like only one got through, damaging its weapons systems. The enemy Hellbat barrel rolled to get out of Viper’s deadly firing arc and went right into Cobra’s. Cobra smiled as he squeezed both triggers launching his rocket pods and mass driver rounds. That smile quickly faded as the enemy pilot jinked through the fire and if he had had a working weapon system Cobra would probably be space dust. Viper pulled a yaw reversal and flipped right in front of the Hellbat knowing he couldn’t do a thing about it and pulled the trigger. Rounds sparked off the hull but one round found a home puncturing through and into critical systems. The enemy Hellbat tried to turn and hit the afterburners to escape but they were damaged and sputter out. Cobra swung around with a dead man’s turn and lined up a shot on the fleeing fighter.
“If you miss this shot, you owe me drinks for a week.” Vipers voice came in over the comms with a laugh.
“Not happening.” Cobra said as he squeezed the trigger. Rounds shred the back of the fleeing fighter and the pilot ejected just before his ammunition kicked off, blowing his ship into a cloud of debris.
“Well, shall we go drag that pilot back to base?” Viper says with ease as he headed towards the escape pod and dropped his mag lock into position.
“Hell yea, I’ll let Impetuous know we’re bringing a friend. Maybe we can figure out what’s got the Hishen so riled up out here.” Cobra says as he keyed to Impetuous’s channel. “Impetuous, Cobra. Enemy fighters destroyed, one pilot survived and we’re bringing them back to base.”
“Roger Cobra, we’ll have an interrogation team standing by. Nice hunting.”
