Hey, everybody. Due to health issues, I was away from the board for... quite some time. Now we have a new place, and it's just awesome! On the old forum, I asked about whether or not people would enjoy being able to farm during the time off between Campaigns. The rules/mechanics are currently more in line with the older THW titles, but a new set of mechanics can be created for this New Age in which we find ourselves. There's a weather chart, time chart, land table, working table, land upgrade table, etc. Crops would be the main focus at first, but animals could be introduced later. Anyway, is there still any interest in this project? It'll get completed even if there isn't, but I'll deliver the file(s) sooner (and hopefully on some pseudo-schedule) if anyone wants to be able to do this. Thanks, Meh

That sounds great. I’m interested!
Glad to see you back and glad you’re in a happy home. I bought my first (and probably last) small house a couple of years ago. I’m in my 40’s and I can tell you it’s such a relief! Renting in England has become horribly expensive...

It's very interesting, since I wanted to develope a campaing about the evolution of a settlement, not sure if in a apocaliptic world or in a medieval world. However, I will follow this topic

Right, everyone. It looks like the first file will be up later this month/early next month. The rules/mechanics got pushed back due to unforeseen events (eg, a car wreck).
Anyway, the document will be quite rough at first - there's no promises that it'll be a shining ruleset like official THW stuff. What it will provide is the groundwork for getting started planting crops, tending the field, and then harvesting.

Sorry to read you’ve had a car accident. As long as you’re okay, thats the main thing. We can wait for the rules

Hey, Mehman! Sorry to hear about your accident. Hope everyone was OK.
I'm always interested in new rules and new takes on down-time activities. So I look forward to what you are producing.
However, I must warn you that I discussed the farming idea with several of my characters and they were universally appalled. Typical reaction: "You do realize I became an adventurer to escape from that life, don't you? Now you want me to do it in my spare time, when I'm not out there risking my neck? You're joking, right?"
I'm afraid it's gonna be a hard sell....

But your Vikings have thralls to do the actual farm work. Will your rules cover that sort of thing? They'll eventually cover farmhands, so... yes. Will they be called thralls? Maybe, maybe not. That's for you to decide.

Sorry to hear about your accident .
The farming does sound interesting as I’ve used the UIC for my characters to perform menial tasks to pay for room and board, instead of in actual adventures.

Interesting idea. I can see the purpose of it for viking settlement, for instance.

I always love the "Civ Building" side of survival-style games. Heck, even keeping a WWII camp up and running would interest me, so farming rules would be great and a good base to modify for other things. I support this decision!
