Hi,
Does anyone still play Long Rifle or have a good understanding of the rules? We are planning on using it for an extended RPG campaign but have a few queries over interpreting the rules.
Cheers,
Mark.

Brilliant.
For background we have played plenty of NUTS WW2 over the years but this is our first shot at Long Rifle so some of the mechanisms are a little different.
First question then. With a multiple melee, say two French with Rep 3 v one Brit with Rep 4, assuming the Brit gets his attack in first and kills one of the French then does the second French combatant get their attack in before or after they take the Man Down test?
There will be more after the game. I will pin up some pics from it too if there are any situation specific queries.
Many thanks,
Mark.

Game over and a really enjoyable, if very bloody, event it was. The key question came from multiple melees.
What is the advantage of multiple attackers ganging up on a single target? At one stage we had three French regulars (lets call them French A, B and C) v one British regular. We resolved the first French A attack which was an even match. Then French B had his go and lost to the Brit and suffered a knock down. The question is, should French B have had any bonus for the Brit already being engaged in a melee, and if so would French C have a cumulatively greater bonus, or is each attack treated as a separate melee?
Cheers,
Mark.

Not quite. Melee is simultaneous. So the two French roll their dice at the same time the Brit does and then work out the melee. Not one at a time. There will be more after the game. Cheers, Mark. Melees happen simultaneously so all roll their d6 and compare the results versus the one target. After reading Long Rifle rules I can see it would benefit from an update. Just need to find time I would use the current following melee rules.Roll 2d6 versus Rep - a score of 6 is always a failure. Up to 3 enemy can fight one guy at a time. All roll d6 and compare versus enemy. Pass 2d6 more - Enemy Obviously Dead Pass 1d6 more - Loser Out of Fight. Pass same - Both -1 to Rep and immediately fight again. So the guy fighting more than one enemy can suffer -1 to Rep multiple times. Just may have to update Long Rifle. Hope this helps.

“Just may have to update Long Rifle. Hope this helps.” I was looking at this only today and considering it would be possible to update this to the modern system using 95th as a template...

Brilliant. We will try out the suggestion and let you have some feedback on how it went.
Cheers,
Mark.
