I'll use them the same as if they were mounted individually. For casualty removal you place a counter behind the stand showing how many hits the stand has taken, when the number of hits reach the number for the stand to be removed, you remove the stand. This is because in Muskets and Shakos, the emphasis is on maintaining the length of the line as long as possible.
In other games, you spread the number of hits over the entire unit and remove stands from the end of the line emphasizing the need to maintain unit cohesion and discipline as the unit suffers attrition. You could use this method in Muskets and Shakos as well.
The slight difference in the two methods is that in the first one, more figures retain the ability to fire, though it requires the use of more markers on the table.

Very interesting, I do something different with Warbands and used a dice behind the unit.
