5150 NO QUARTER - Homebrew Rules Project

I've been working on some "homebrew" rules for the 5150:No Quarter rule book (which is available from Rebel Minis- www.rebelminis.com/51noqumecop.html )

I've been working on this for a while off and on, with limited success due to real life events getting in the way.

I'm trying to make a combined arms version, similar to a couple of other well known rule sets (BT and CAV).

Infantry and vehicles have been something that No Quarter sorely needs. Also, some new weaponry and equipment charts for a more robust design system for mecha and vehicles.

I'm thinking 5th Class mecha should be re-catagorized as Powered Armor, being 3 sub-categories; Basic, Medium, and Assault.


A couple of years ago, before my cataract surgeries, I slapped together an updated and revised weapons chart. Once I figure out how to convert it into a jpg. I'll attach it

Been going through my vast collection of THW rule books looking for stuff to be adapted to my project, plus I've been acquiring new mechs, vehicles, infantry, and terrain.

So far, I've added 44 new CGL mechs and I'm waiting on 20+ terrain pieces, 11 3D printed mechs, 11 3D printed vehicles, and a platoon of infantry.

The paint queue is full, soon to get fuller.

Well, I've got a question -

Does my home brew rules need aliens?


YES

NO



Of the 2 primary rule sets out there for mecha combat that I'm using to work out some particulars for my version, one has NO aliens, while the other has aliens.

If my home brew rules have aliens, they won't be standard 5150 aliens, but my own design.

On another note, the minis I ordered last month have arrived, and I have started on many of them; mostly on the terrain, as I lacked 6-8mm terrain.


I placed new orders this month for more mechs, terrain, and paints.

As I finish some of the current minis on my work table, I'll post photos 

I am also working on designing a new blog.

Well, I've decided to just make my version human-centric for the time being. It's difficult to find suitable alien minis in 6mm, and I've only found 2 examples I would even consider. My aliens will come later. I am working on vehicle and battlearmor rules right now. Designing a vehicle sheet. Layout for it needs to mesh with the mech sheets.
Vehicle design will be similar to mech design so that equipment and weaponry will cross over seamlessly, plus combat will flow smoothly

Where are you getting the 6mm stuff?

I found some interesting 6mm infantry on Etsy. I got a few from a seller in Florida. Very detailed resin prints and better than white metal castings
Next month I'll be placing another order with the seller for some of his other 6mm infantry prints. I'm seriously considering selling off most of my 28mm sci-fi
miniatures and vehicles and switching over to 6mm. The prints are so detailed now and easy to assemble and/or paint.

Also, I am hoping to post some photos this coming week, as I have nearly finished some mechs and terrain.

I know I promised some photos of finished mechs and terrain, but unfortunately I found out that I primed my terrain pieces the wrong color and I have to fix that and start all over on the buildings  . I did prime the mechs correctly, but I only have four almost ready for detailing, so with a little luck I hope to post photos of them later this week when they are finished, but for now I only have a couple of photos of some of the mechs when I started base coating them. There are more than four mechs in the photos(I have a couple hundred to choose from) I think at the time I took the photos, I had about 25 I picked to prime and base coat - I used three different primer colors for the various mechs; VSP Black, VSP IDF Sand Grey, or VSP German Dark Panzer Grey.

The chosen base coat color for these mechs is VMC Refractive Green -

Well better late than never -

It has taken longer than I hoped, but at least I made some progress, considering I've had to relearn techniques I knew pre-strokes

I'll try to post photos of the last 5 mechs from the last group completed, some time in the next few days. I now have 18 new mechs on the workbench and they have about 4 more phases to be completed. They are painted in the scheme of my Adamantium Dogs mercenary/free company unit. Pictures will be posted for them once they are done
