Hi,
New to the forum-- I bought the core book and compendium and am eager to start learning and playing what sounds like a terrific game.
Problem is, I want to play solo with 54MM Britains Deetail figures (I have a pretty good sized collection of them) and I'm not finding anything in the rule books or in the forum that specifically covers how to play with 54MM figures.
Does anyone by chance have a player aid for specifically gaming Nuts! with 54MM figures?
I also have a Chessex Role Playing Play Mat: MEGAMAT Double-Sided Reversible Mat 34 1/2in x 48in (with one inch squares)
Could the rules be adapted to work with this battlemat and the aforementioned 54MM figures?
Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Grab 2-3 minis that you control and play a really short game with 2-3 PEFs. See how it plays and looks. My guess is that you can just double the ranges and it should work fine.
TwoHourWargames rules are not like other wargames where every milometer matters. It's more about the story: what's the situation, which orders do you give your troops and how do they react (because they won't always do what you want them to).

Plus like almost every minis game under the sun, use the mini scale as the basic unit of movement. That generally works out.

Yep, they have the answers. Or use the rules as written with the same distances.

Hi and thanks for the replies, but I feel I am honestly still stuck where I was before posting.
As I said, I am totally new to this game and minis wargaming in general. I don't understand what you mean " mini scale as the basic unit of movement" sorry total newbie here, don't get what that means Do I double every value? for movement? for shooting? For sighting? Can my grid 1 inch square battlemat be used as a "battleboard"? could I create a scale where I count the number of grid squares for movement or shooting?
Perhaps I am certainly not the only person who has an interest in gaming with 54mm figures. I think it might be a helpful move on the part of your support team to help devise a player aid for game play with both 54mm and a battlemat with a grid?
Hoping this community will prove to be a welcoming place for total newbies
And thanks again for the replies

Does a 54mm figure fit in the 1" hex or does it occupy more than one hex? Not sure as I haven't used 54mm before.

What they are saying about "mini scale" as the basic unit of movement is to replace one inch (25mm) with 54mm or 2 inches. They could have been plainer. Since you are new to wargaming, most wargame companies are one-man operations & don't have support teams, just other players who like to share the game with others. So, bear with us, some of us have great advice and some of us are crackpots (I tend to fit in the crackpot end of things.)
The ranges in the rules could be doubled for 54mm figures, or you could just keep them as is. Bear in mind that ranges in most wargames are "effective" ranges and not "maximum" ranges.
If your mat has one-inch squares, they will work fine for movement & ranges. Again, it is up to you if you want to double the figure's movement for the 54mm, or just keep them the same.
"Battleboard" is a small abstract representation of the tabletop. In some games, where you have a small number of figures, it speeds up play to reduce the size of the playing surface. Most immersive games place game action over time spent in manuevering groups of figures.
In my opinion, & this is purely my opinion, I would play a game or two with the rules as written & then decide for yourself if you need to adjust distances for movement and ranges. I really hope this helps, because many of the Two Hour Wargames are actually a lot of fun to play.

I really mean it is up to you on the measurements. At one convention, there was a 54mm AWI (American War of Independence) game played on a 4'x4' table & they used the rules as written. At another convention, there was a 54mm Nuts game on a 12'x8' table & the movement & ranges were doubled. Both games were completely filled during the whole convention.

Hi all,
Appreciate the quick responses and explanations :-)
So after doing some measuring, the boxes are actually 1.5 inches not 1 inch.
I have attached two photos to show you my battlemat setup and how the 54mm figures fit nicely inside each 1.5 inch box (the other side of the mat are hexes, but the figures fit better in the squares)
I measured 8 inches (for movement and it come out to 5.5 boxes. Unfortunately I live in a small apartment and my table is not very large 24 inches by 48. If I double the movement to say 11 boxes a figure could move off the board very quickly.
So I might try it our first by not doubling as many of you suggested.
I actually have 100+(!) Britains knights and turks so I am going to check out Swordplay eventually as well..
I've had many of these figures since childhood so I am excited to finally use them in an actual wargame!

On a small board like that I would cut the distances in NUTS in half then move or shoot one box per inch. Example - 8" comes down to 4" and turns into 4 boxes. You see with the shooting, etc. you'll have plenty of room as you won't be moving much. Range 24" would be 12" so you could fire from 12 boxes away. Range 48" would be 24", rifle range would be 24 boxes. Hope this helps.

oops, sorry, I didn't catch that you were new to wargaming, just new to TwoHourWargames. I think you'll find that most of the folks here are friendly and try to be helpful. So if any questions come up, please ask.
And yes, Ed is the production team, support team, advertising team, management team, leadership team, convention team, development team, etc. Plus he's a good guy.

Wow! It’s great to see Britains minis being used. I loved them as a kid. Are they still available?

When I've played with 54mm I have doubled all the ranges and so on, and keep it small -- to one or two squads and vehicles per side.
