Hola,
FINALLY got around to starting my 5150 NB games, my first character died on his first outing, my second is going strong has survived 2 months and recruited a young thief (so far so good) and I'm loving it (although still having to refer backwards and forwards to the rulebook at the moment).
The only question I have relates to the use of the City Deck, I can't see any indication of how many PEFs for the building on the City Deck cards and so I'm having to refer to pages 65-67 of the rulebook to find our how many possible PEFs there could be. This is slightly annoying as everything else is handled nicely on the cards (City and NPC Decks).
Am I missing something? (Wouldn't be the first or last time!) Or is that the only way, to refer back to the rulebook?
Thanks in advance.
Steve

Here you go. Upper right hand corner. Top number = floors. Underneath Daytime PEFs/Nighttime PEFs Hope this helps.

If that's the case, what is/are the Daytime and Nightime Law Levels and where can they be found? Or don't I need them? Thanks Steve

Yikes, you're correct. That answer was for another deck. PEFs are found in the Encounter in the Special Instructions section or use the tables starting on page 65. Now if you want an easier way to generate PEFs when going through multiple buildings use this. It's from a set of rules written after New Beginnings. Much easier and perfect to combine with the deck. The dice gods have spoken and taken their sacrifice, may their passing enlighten you on your path to Rep 6.

Have to know when to leave the fight. And there's also Cheating Death (page 22).
WAIT! WHAT? CHEATING DEATH? Sometimes, something really bad could happen to you. Maybe end up Obviously Dead without any Star Power left. It can be whatever you think it is. When this happens, you can declare that you are Cheating Death. This represents some amazing occurrence that has happened allowing you to have "Cheated death". Here’s how we do it: • Remove your Star from play, ending your involvement in the Encounter. • Immediately drop your Rep by 1 point. • All accumulated Increasing and Decreasing Rep d6 from the Encounter are loss. • Roll to see what Items you loss as previously explained.

LOL. I consider it training wheels. I know, but where is that 'thrill of jeopardy' if you can just press the re-set button (albeit with a lower REP and fewer items etc.) My Star would never be able to look one of his/her grunts in the eye again!!! (If they hadn't left the band already)

Ahh but try and play as a Rep 4 Star. Much more challenging.

Come on, everyone loves a come-back story. The Rep5 who lost it all (or at least some of it) and worked hard to get it all back again.

Hello Steve,
I am another one that doesn't use cheating death. This also means I try not to get too attached to characters. They will die, sometimetimes sooner than others (as you have discovered)!

I have never used cheating death, though the way I burn through star power dice it may happen someday!
