Hello,
how can an e.g. infantry unit in line just one battalion deep (if e.g. the bases are just 20mm deep) be attacked in its flank, if the attacker has to "begin and finish its move in the (here: 20mm wide) area between the front and rear facing of the unit" (rule 2.2.2)? For me that's geometrically impossible!
Regards Ronald

Hello Ed,
thanks a lot. That really helps. Now for me as a non native speaker (german) it would be clear if the rules would read "… begin and finish its move at least partially in the area between the front and rear facing of the unit".

Hello Ed, In the Melee-table (9.4, page 18) under „situation“ „REAR - Unit attacked to the rear“… Modifier „Rout“. Does that mean, a unit being attacked to its rear automatically routs? There won‘t be a melee calculation? No dicing? No chance for surviving an attack to the rear? Or do you calculate/dice the melee and if (!) the defender wins, the outcome „Remain in place“ allows the unit to stay?
Cheers, Ronald

Correct, hit to the rear and the unit routs. Happened all the time in real life as well. Hope this helps.
