Do you play NUTS with the Basic or Optional Rules?

How do I play Nuts? I combine the basic game with the optionals to 4th. edition. Speeds play, and saves a few dice rolls. Always a good thing.

Basic - the only rule I use from the Optional list is the 2d6 Shooting, and then only for small skirmish games (for games with half-squad sized groups and bigger, I use a homebrewed fire-by-squad version of Basic Shooting that is inspired by Force on Force).
For vehicles, I use the simplified 2d6 rules from Big Battles.
I don't use Battle Boards - I miss the tactical movement - but rather use a 3x3 map, then play out the engagements on a 2'x2' board.

So far, I haven't played Nuts much beyond a few practice games with the various editions I own. However, I do use what appeals to me, which includes optional rules in some cases.
