Interesting. I had read/heard/"saw it on the internet" that after a battle, a Union officer found his dead Confederate son on the battlefield. His son was a bugler and had the notes to Taps in his effects. The Union officer/dad asked to have Taps played at his son's funeral. No attribution on that or evidence that I can remember, and I wasn't there.
