That's a good recommendation, Shoshen! Crinklechips, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on Working Grave after you've had a good peruse. There are some great ideas, there, as always. I especially like the Extraordinary Effort and Sweet Talk tweaks, though in my head I'll be calling the latter "I Am the Law!", because a Judge doesn't sweet talk anybody. This morning I've spent several enjoyable hours flipping through my various THW rules sets, thinking how I might get the proper vibe of Mega City One. For now I think I'll use most of the combat rules from Working Grave (received fire and charging tables always confused me a little), though I will add the In Sight test, as I'd think it will add a little granularity to the proceedings. For the story itself I'm thinking of using either Future Tales or New Hope City PI, or a blend of the two, because they give a good story arc that my fledgling judges might follow. For those of you familiar with Judge Dredd I'll add the following (going into full nerd-speed here): Judges will generally be rep 5's or higher, with combatty abilities largely take from Future Tales. Psy Judges like Judge Anderson should be well served by the Psy rules in Back Alleys. For Dark Judges like Judge Death I'd think the vampire rules from Working Grave will be just the ticket - and of course Dark Judges can't die, they only lose their bodies - so they might pop up later in the campaign... For Kleggs (monstrous mercenaries with a taste for raw meat) I've been thinking of giving them all the resilient ability (first OOF = carry on) and possibly rage (+1d6 in melee), though I might make their reps only 3 or 4 - I don't picture them as being very accurate marksmen. Anyway, just a few initial thoughts. If you ever go on to try it yourself, I'd be most interested to hear what you come up with, Crinkle... Your ideas are all great Fish. I feel like a newby here coz I haven’t encountered Kleggs that I can remember? I’ll probably stick to ‘Grave’ for simplicities sake to start with but I like using ‘New Hope City PI’ to expand the story. Perfect. When the new ‘After The Horsemen’ ruleset comes out we have a Cursed Earth expansion! Whoop!

Hmmm, I wasn't even aware of "After the Horsemen." I assume that will be a Post-Apoc set? If so, it should be perfect source material for adventuring in the Cursed Earth!
Ah, Kleggs. My nerd-hat is showing, like I said. Kleggs were an alien reptilian race brought in by Judge Cal(igula) as the muscle behind his tyranny in the early series by the same name. It might be my favourite series ever, even above the Cursed Earth. They were pretty cool, honestly. As I game in the big scale there are no figures that work for them, so I use proxies as a similar sort of race.

The original After The Horsemen is available on Rebel Minis website but I’m sure Ed has said there is a new edition in the pipeline.
Thanks for the history class! I have realised I have the story in the JD case files vol. 2. I haven’t got round to reading it yet.

I think you'll enjoy it! The story is full of the quirky, somewhat gonzo atmosphere (and humour) of the early series. One of these days I intend to do something similar with a Future Tales game: the Big Bad will be a wicked Judge character like Cal, his principal minions will be Klegg-like creatures, with other encounters being with gangers, etc., etc. I'm thinking it might work rather well.

One step nearer to starting my Dredd game. I bought the minis that Shosen recommended. They are definitely Dredd inspired but the artist hasn't gone all the way to avoid copyright issues. Here’s an example: So I rolled up my sleeves and finished the job. I think it turned out rather good! I’ll have them from my printer by Wednesday. Then I’m free to start! If anyone wants my Dredd mini’s I’ll happily give you them. Obviously they are the property of Darkmook so here’s the deal. If you buy them from here Darkmook - Future Lawmen and send me a screenshot as proof I’ll send you my Judge Dredd versions. They’re only $2.45.

Yes, do keep us posted, Crinkle. I've been fiddling around with dong Dredd all weekend and have been using a blend of THW titles: Future Tales (table top rules), Bright Lights (most combat rules) and a few tweaks from Working Grave. This is just for skirmish games, mind, so far. I haven't tried doing a whole campaign arc yet.
Your figures look great, btw!

Okay, I have my Dredd minis and I’ve ordered some new human mini’s that fit well with the Judges style. I’m going to just take the rules as they are for a spin. Once I’m happy with the run of things I’ll post my thoughts on making it more ‘Mega City 1’ ish. To be honest I think all it will take are a couple of your ideas ‘Fish...
