When to take the Man Down Test

Hi I recently purchased the 4th edition rules for Nuts! and I have a question about when to apply the man down test. Is the Man Down test taken as soon as any figure in a group goes man down or is it taken once all fire between 2 groups is finished.

For example let's say that a group consisting of figures A, B and C move out into the open and trigger an insight test with a group consisting of figures 4, 5 & 6. The group consisting of A, B and C wins the insight test and fires on the other group. Figure A targets figure 4 and causes him to duck back. Figure B targets figure 5 and kills him. Is the man down test taken instantly or is the shooting between figures C and 6 resolved before any man down test is taken?
