After read your interesting article I have my doubts, because I have all the books that you talk about, and I am not sure about the differences between Colonial Adventures and Fortune Won and Lost.
Looks like to me, that you say there that the book Fortune Won and Lost requires of less miniatures to play, or at least, less units. But when I have gone on page 8 "Fielding your army" there says that you will have units of 20 figures for infantry with 4 infantry units to one cavalry unit, they look like me very big units, to be played just as a platoon. And on page 8 they talk about the artillery, and you said in your article that there were no artillery.
In conclusion, I am not sure if you are talking about the same book than me. This is what I was talking about:
Could you help me?

There are two different rule sets - the one you have is Colonial Adventures with the sub-title Fortunes Won and Lost.. The Other set has only Fortunes Won and Lost as its title. Two different sets.

Ah ok, thanks a lot, there was the problem. Perfect, I am buying it through Wargames Vault. That ruleset was the last one that didn't last. I think that I have all THW rulesets

Colonial Adventures is ideal for medium to large battles like Rorke's Drift, Isanlwana, Little Big Horn, The Rosebud, Omduran - battles where regiments and battalions faced large numbers of hostile natives from African tribesmen and American Indians to Transvaal Boers and Afganistan Pathans.
Fortunes Won and Lost is more geared toward a single company, platoon or squad keeping order on a colonial frontier.

Totally agree with you. But I have a doubt, in Fortunes Won and Lost, can you create two squads, for example, each squad leaded by a Rep4 NCO plus 4 men, and your Star could be the Commander of both units with your Rep5, For example?

Yes, when playing the campaign system, page 20, the number of groups you can have is equal to your major morale.

Arrgh! I need to rephrase that. Yes, you can have more than one group, but the other groups take tests based on their leader's Rep. While your immediate group enjoys the benefit of your Rep 5 leadership, the other groups will use the NCO's Rep in tests involving leadership.
